They will follow with the lush Fantasia on a Gaelic Air and the energetic Cardinal Circle, both by Frederick Speck, showcasing the ensemble’s range and precision. Adding a special touch, the trumpets from Chamber Winds Louisville, the UofL Wind Symphony, and the Kentucky Musicians Abroad trumpet staff will join for the heartfelt The Irish Blessing, bringing a bright, resonant tribute to the evening.
September 25, 2025 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
The Louisville Concert Band and Chamber Winds Louisville presents a September program filled with color and character. Philip Sparke’s Sunrise at Angel’s Gate captures the spacious grandeur of a desert dawn, while Percy Grainger’s spirited Molly on the Shore and Warren Barker’s texturally rich setting of Danny Boy bring folk traditions to life. The concert also features a special performance by our clarinet choir, presenting Ralph Vaughan Williams’ beloved Rhosymedre as we celebrate the memory of one of our revered founding members, clarinetist and conductor Brad Rogers.
The exuberant and brilliant Thunder and Lightning Polka by Johann Strauss II will provide a lively and joyous finale. If you like the crash cymbal solo at the end we may even add an encore!

June 4, 2025 @ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Join the Louisville Concert Band during Wind Band Institute week for a program full of drama, wit, and heart. From the sweeping intensity of Khachaturian’s “Three Dance Episodes from Spartacus” to the optimistic and jaunty strains of Sousa’s “Homeward Bound” and the rich textures of Clifton Williams’ “Solemn Fugue”, the concert showcases the expressive power of the wind band. Chamber works by Donizetti and Shulamit Ran add contrast—Ran’s “Flight of the Brave Chicken: Ode to Nina” offers a playful, unexpected twist, while Donizetti’s “Sinfonia” brings a touch of classical charm. It’s a bold and colorful musical experience you won’t want to miss!
